P4 unites past and present Presidents of LIF

When P4, the UK's leading self testing emergency lighting company, moved its entire operation last year from Bedford to Fakenham in north Norfolk, it assumed that it would be the town's first experience of a major name in the lighting industry.

So P4 believed until a few weeks ago, when they were contacted by Fakenham resident, John Callaway. John had read about P4 in the local press, and was keen to visit the company and meet its team.

As soon as he discovered this, P4's Business Development Director, Alan Daniels, arranged for John to visit the new P4 offices and factory. As an active LIF member himself, he was also able to persuade the current LIF President, Mike Collett, and its Chief Executive, Eddie Taylor, to meet John during his visit.

John, now 84, had moved to Fakenham from Worcester in 2005. He was the first President of the Lighting Industry Federation (LIF) in 1969, when it was formed from the merger of three other associations. At that time he had one of the top jobs in the lighting industry with the multinational Philips Group, and was the obvious person to lead the industry into a new age.

" We were absolutely delighted to discover that living but a few stone throw away from us is a lighting industry legend," said Alan Daniels. He added: "The past year has been one of the most exciting in the company's 21 year history as we have settled into our new building, won several prestigious projects and launched some very important products. John's visit has been the icing on the cake."

John Callaway said: "Although I have been away from the industry for some time, it was a real pleasure to see a modern lighting company like P4 performing at the very highest level. I was also delighted to meet Mike and Eddie and see the progress that has been made in the lighting industry since my presidency 40 years ago."
